Time Out Magazine

Forgot to mention that the band are in the current Time Out magazine. Tried to get a copy yesterday from my local supermarket, but they don't stock it. Will try finding it on the high street over the weekend, or I'll buy it online next week (if I still can!).

32 days and counting

The tickets arrived yesterday, so it's starting to feel real now! I'm now finding a friend to go with - asked one of my best mates, and she's going to see how she's fixed for that night. She's not a big duranie, but she doesn't mind their stuff and seems happy to go with me if she's free. She'll let me know after Tuesday next week.

Didn't get chance to blog the last few days as I've been busy at work, and had problems with my arm again.

Did manage to sort out the lyrics to a couple of newer tracks - one so new it's not yet been released. The tracks are 'Falling Angel' (which was a B-side) and 'What Happens Tomorrow' (which I believe will be the new single released after the tour).

Need to get some new jeans on payday, and maybe a new top. Ordered some 'Smashbox' makeup from QVC yesterday afternoon, should be here in about a fortnight (have to send a cheque off on payday). So when I've got all that I'll be sorted for the gig.....

I've finished the 1984 page of the scrapbook, and I'm starting to look at putting it on one of my websites. Might upload it today, then again I might wait til after the weekend.

36 days and counting

So, there's only 36 days and about 3 hours til the doors open and I try to get a good place at the Hallam FM arena for the gig. I've been quite excited about it over the weekend, but other things are getting in the way of the anticipation today.

I've not done any more to the scrapbook yet today, as my PC is being a complete pain in the butt, and my arm is aching like mad. (I have RSI and had a Cortisone injection last Friday). I'm hoping to get started on the next page (1984) some time today. It's taking about 2-4 hours to do a page, depending on what images I've got and how difficult I make things for myself :-)

Spent the weekend resting my arm up, so I had lots of chance to listen to some of the new tracks in an attempt to learn the words in time for the gig! Probably annoyed the neighbours with my singing, especially to 'What Happens Tomorrow' and couple of older tracks ('Last Chance...' and 'Falling Angel') - still it makes a change from 'Ordinary World' being belted out (and played) as loud as possible!!! Tried playing my original (1982) tape of Rio, but I've literally played it to death (probably in the first 3 years of ownership!!), must remember to buy a copy on CD on payday! Other things I did at the weekend included checking out the info about the new Dr Who on ceefax, and watching about 3 episodes of '24' back-to-back......

Visited the duranduran.com site today and checked out the latest news and was interested to read friday's Belfast Telegraph interview with JT (as reported at duranduran.com and Belfast Telegraph), also entered the duranduranmusic.com/Sky.com competiton to win a VIP package for 2 to the UK tour..... keeping my fingers crossed (but the question was ridiculously easy!!)

Intro to me

I'm Kaz, and I've been a Duranie since their first appearance on Top of the Pops in about 1981 singing Planet Earth. From that moment, at the age of 8 or 9, I fell in love with Simon Le Bon (who didn't), and I knew that they were 'my band'. I always thought of them as New Romantics, but can now see the references to Bowie & Roxy Music. There's even a punk feel to some of the early demos I've heard recently.

It's now about 23 yrs since the guys changed my life. And in all that time I've never yet managed to make it to a concert (too young, or just too skint!) - but this year all that changes! The Reunion has sparked off my passion once again (not that it had ever really abated), and the moment I heard the guys would be touring the UK I promised myself that I'd finally make it to a gig. Unfortunately I've moved from my birthplace in the south-east of England to a more forgotten part of eastern England, so I'm not going to get to see a Wembley gig. While I'm waiting to see the guys, and the excitement is building, I'm trawling the web for pics etc, and doing a virtual scrapbook. I hope to get that online soon.... watch this space!

I get a bit of stick from hubby (he's not all that into them!) especially over the crush I have on Simon! When I put the Greatest DVD on he wanders off to do something else, and recently said that he felt like he was competing with an ex-boyfriend (if only!).

My fave DD songs are: Ordinary World, The Seventh Stranger and What Happens Tomorrow (which I believe is set to be the next single). My fave DD video is probably A View To A Kill (I like the humour!), and my fave band member is Simon (in case you hadn't guessed!). I think it was probably Nick, and the other Synth players of the 1980s, that inspired me to learn to play the piano - and now all I want is a nice keyboard to play with!

In my life away from all things DD, I'm a web-designer (but too busy at the mo to come up with my own design for this blog!), I'm married and have 2 dogs. I love reading, watching films (old and new), listening to music (esp. British 80s bands) and playing with my PS2.

I hope to share the anticipation and build-up to the Sheffield gig in this blog, and I'll be writing up a review afterwards. I'm also planning on linking to my fave DD sites.
