Another hectic few days have been, and gone.
We have a new dog staying with us for a while. She's called Judy, and belongs to a neighbours friend. She's a colle-cross - but we're not sure what she's crossed with. She has the lion-paws of a German Shepherd, but is small. She's got lots of feathering, like a Setter and shows gun-dog-type personality with the way she brings her toys back and drops them at our feet. She's beautiful, black and ginger. She looks like she's wearing 80s-style eyeliner, and reminds me of Toyah! I'll post a pic tomorrow.

She likes to sit on the window-sill, so we had to move my piano (it was becoming a climbing frame!). In the end, after moving furniture from 7pm til 3am, we put the piano in it's final position... about 2 feet from where it had started! It's literally been placed on every wall downstairs!

Paul got rid of the quiz machine yesterday, so that's given us more space. We've now got more room in the dining room, and it looks a lot bigger and brighter. We've also re-arranged the lounge, so that seems bigger too. But we might have to slightly re-arrange it again, as Judy keeps trying to get onto that window-sill too! I'm still quite tired today, but I caught up on some sleep yesterday.

Rather a creative day!
Well, the 'Evil' cover may have taken me months to finally complete, but I've just created one in 1/2 a day! I decided to go with 'The Chase' as my next cover - as it's always been a firm favourite with me. One of the guys online pointed us to a great resource for photos - Chronovore. So using some photos from there, some from the BBC and some from DWIA I got some good material to work with. As you can see, I managed to get a two-tone colouration working this time. I'm really rather happy with it. It'll be nice to get some feedback from the other cover-makers!

This has to be the fastest Banner I've ever made!
It must've only taken me about half an hour, on and off, to create this banner. The worst part was getting the Miami Vice logo in a useable format! I'm pretty pleased with it, and it goes to show how much quicker - and easier - I'm making things in Photoshop these days! It's all down to using it regularly to do all sorts of things.

I've also made a wallpaper for my Nokia, back on Doctor Who... it's based on my 9-10-Rose banner.

And here's the Nokia Wallpaper >>

Wow!
Ok, so this isn't going to sound so Wow! when I write it, but I was really chuffed this morning. Overnight I had a PM from one of the truly fantastic DVD-cover-makers... first words were complimenting me on my cover! I was so chuffed that I've been grinning all day! Anyway, he pointed out something that I'd done incorrectly - but in a way that really made me laugh - and offered to send me the fonts I need to do these covers. Which is brilliant! I've really had a good reception of my first cover, so I'm definately going to have a go at making some others.

Paul had a bad day at work yesterday, and as he's got a few days off he had a few beers - which meant that the evening was taken up with him going on about his bad day, and playing music til gone midnight. I wouldn't have minded, but I really, really, really, wanted to see last night's Miami Vice. It was the episode with The PowerStation in it! I told him at about 9:15 that I really wanted to watch it, and would have to catch the midnight airing - which he agreed to - but by midnight there was no way I was going to get him to stop playing music so I could watch telly. So I ended up going to bed in a strop. Anyway, it might be that it's repeated tonight at 6pm, but knowing my luck the listings on the Radio Times website will be wrong.

Finally got some more done to my 'Rose' wallpaper (that's for the episode, not the character!). It's coming along OK, but I'm taking a break from it... I seem to be having one of those 'it's not quite right' moments with it. Best thing when that happens is to save it and do something else for a while.

As I'm just signing up to the forum at Miami-Vice.org I've just made myself a nice little Crockett avatar (which you can see here >>). I'm also working on a banner for my signature... not quite sure what to do on that one, but it's helping me develop my Photoshop skills!

Hmmm... strange!
No response on my cross-over cover! Sometimes I think I'm a thread-killer... I really do! Still, I completed my 'Evil of the Daleks' DVD cover yesterday and posted that in the Fan Covers forum. I was really nervous, and quite embarrassed to put it on there, as there's some truly brilliant work being produced - but as I said in the post, you don't learn if you don't show what you've done! The first pic here is my original version. I good some good reaction to it, and some helpful comments/constructive criticism.

I've since re-jigged it according to the comments made, and this is it. There were a couple of comments from people who didn't like the pic I used of Pat for the circles, although someone said they couldn't believe it hadn't been done before - seems that to them, as well as me, it was a natural thing to do! Anyway, I'll do two versions of the Pat stories now, one with the hat and one with the standard Pat photo.

It was great to get some feedback, and it's really encouraged me. One nice poster said that all us newbies were showing promise and should carry on - that they'd been really pleased to see what we'd produced. I think I'm going to do 'The Chase' next - or maybe 'The Daleks' Masterplan'...

I've also made a start on a new wallpaper - starting on the episodic wallies now. I'm working through in order, so it'll be 'Rose' first. Once I've done all the Eccleston era stories, I might have a look at doing some for the other Doctors - perhaps based on my DVD covers? Anyway, on top of that Admiral Mudd asked me to create another banner - this time for the enemies section of his forum. Nice to know that my efforts are appreciated, and liked!

Finished the cover
As you can see, I've finished my cross-over-cover! It's actually the first DW cover I've completed. Hopefully, now that I've learnt a few tricks, I'll be able to get on with my missing story covers! I'm rather nervous about what the guys on OG will say about it, but it's posted now. No backing out.

Paul phoned at 11. They're at the Humber Viewing point in Hessle. They're going to have a short walk on the bridge, then carry on to our house. He's going to let the dogs out, and then they're picking me up from work at 1 for lunch. I've missed him, even though I've been busy. It'll be nice to have him back.

Another busy weekend has flown by!
My father-in-law's visiting today, and Paul was away at his mum's for the weekend. So I was really busy most of the day on Saturday. I did make time to sit and watch 2 eps of Miami Vice though!

Sunday morning I watched 'Let him have it' (which is where today's pic comes from). I've written a review on the Chris Eccleston board I'm a member of. It was truly brilliant, and really moving.

Got busy again in the afternoon, and moved some curtains around - Paul's brining some new ones back. Watched another 2 eps of Miami Vice, and went to bed. So I was busy, but didn't really do a lot - it was all housework really!

Back at work today, and I'm about to finish my cross-over-cover. I can't believe that Miami Vice on DVD is rated 18, yet Men and Motors show it at 2pm! Odd!

I'm feeling quite accomplished today!
I feel like I've sorted out quite a lot at work today. I've finally got the FCKeditor working on our server. I don't know why it's been playing up so much, but it has! Anyway, now I can try to start adding it to our admin pages and see if I can actually post the HTML it produces into the database. If it all works properly it'll really improve things.

On a personal level, I'm doing much better on DalekTron now. I seem to have developed a technique - but I need to figure out the trick to beating the 'D-A-L-E-K' level! I think it's got something to do with Rose - which would tie it in to the story too. I've got a much better highscore now, and was in 12th overall (and 12th on the keyboard scores too) when I last looked! :) I've just checked my banners and wallpapers site, and I'm now up to 540 hits! So there seems to be a lot of interest in those - which is rather nice to know! I've got 1040 hits on my other photobucket account too - that's the one where I store my sundry pics, including the Hero Machine ones! I'm pretty shocked at that too - I think most of those hits are from the Hero Machine pics, but I have a lot in a thread so it's probably an over-inflated count. I quickly made a Tegan pic last night - in a re-designed air stewardess uniform.

I've also started on my first DW Cross-over cover. The idea is that you take a Doctor & Companion(s), and another TV show, and make covers for a story featuring both. Mine's going to be the 9th Doctor, Rose & Miami Vice... seeing as I'm watching that a lot at the mo on the Men & Motors channel on Sky. I'm hoping that working on a cross-over cover will help me develop skills for making alternative covers for some of the missing stories - I've had a vague idea for 'Evil' for a while now, but somehow I'm struggling to make it a reality.

Blimey, just had a phone-call from a friend in the US... at the end of last week he quit his job, got married, and moved from N. Dakota to Indiana! He's applied for a job at the local uni as a web designer, and wondered if I'd give him a reference. Which I'll be more than happy to do. It was a really nice surprise to hear from him, and nice to hear him sounding so happy. Hope it all works out for him this time!

More Hero Doctors and Companions!
I'm getting pretty quick at these now! I made some more at the end of the day yesterday, then altered a couple this morning. But at lunch, after playing Dalektron - which I'm starting to get the hang of - for 1/2 an hour, I went back to making Heroes! I'd done Turlough, and suddenly remembered that I'd totally forgotten to make Mel! I have a sneaking suspicion that it was my sub-concious trying to blot out the fact that Bonnie Langford had ever been a companion, but if I'm going to do all the TV/TVM Doctors and Companions then she had to be included!

So now I've added:
The 7th Doctor in his short Jacket - this is better than the original one, but I'm leaving that up as an 'alternative costume'!
Ace in Ghostlight costume
Ace with a gun - in more normal costume
Mel in Time & the Rani outfit (almost)
The 6th Doctor - less colourful than he should be!
Peri
The 5th Doctor - without his hat
The 5th Doctor - with his hat on
Turlough
and finally
Turlough with the Black Guardian's Crystal

As you can probably tell, I'm having tremendous fun with Hero Machine - and I'm officially hooked on it! Can't wait to get a chance to carry on. Tegan's next on my list... wonder if I can do her Air Hostess Uniform?

I've also been directed to a brilliant website, which has lots of BBC VT clips, and out-takes etc on it... and has Dimensions in Time! It's called TV Ark. There's loads there for me to catch up on... and I have a funny feeling that the classic Tom out-take (where he has a go at K-9 for never being able to give him any info) is on there!

Something quite strange happened today... there's a news article on Digital Spy about Midget Curling. That may seem odd in it's own right, but over on Outpost Gallifrey I remember the various ideas that were presented as possibilities for ITV to try out against Doctor Who... and one of them was Celebrity Dwarf Tossing - a similar idea. Are Channel 4's ideas people scouring the 'net for new programming ideas? Co-incidence? I'm not sure, but I found it quite funny!

Oh wow!!
I'm having huge amounts of fun today! One of the OG members pointed us all in the direction of Hero Machine, and I'm hooked! You use it to create a comic-book superhero (or villain), and I've so far created ones for:
The 9th Doctor
Captain Jack
Rose
Rose in a hoodie
Jackie
Mickey
The 10th Doctor
Leela
The 8th Doctor
Dr Grace Holloway
The 7th Doctor

All those, in one day! I think I'll do some Duran Duran ones when I'm done with all the Doctor Who ones...

I've also created a couple of banners, one of which was specially created for The Doctor Who Message Board - the plain original can be viewed here, and an Emergency-Doctor/Rose/10th Doctor banner. The END/Rose/TD one took almost all of yesterday to do... just because of opting to make my own hologram doctor! But I'm pretty happy with the results. Don't know where I'll use it, if anywhere... but it's allowed me to develop my skills a bit further!

Discovery's down, and all are safe.
It was wonderful to have the opportunity, thanks to the BBC News website, to see the Space Shuttle Discovery return to earth this lunchtime. At about 9am I went to their website and started the live video feed to view the landing. The decided to abandon the first two windows, due to bad weather. I kept the feed running all day so I didn't miss seeing Discovery come in, and at 12:07pm (BST) she started making her first moves back home. A further 60 mins or so later, and she was safely down. The Beeb have still got a feed running at the moment, so you might be able to re-watch it.

Today's the first time since the very first flight - Columbia back in 1981 - that I've watched one of those beasts come back to earth. It's also the first time I've seen a night landing - which was quite odd as they used a lot of IR cameras so we could see anything. The IR photo I've used is from the BBC news site - I'm sure there'll be lots more over there, and on the NASA website.

I'm really glad that everything went fine with this landing. Seems that the space walk to repair the shuttle was well worth it, and I'm looking forwards to seeing the footage on my telly when I get home. I felt like an excited little kid when I was watching it!

It's nice to have something positive to write about. My hols were a bit of a disaster. I was too busy to work on either my wiki info, or my fanfic. The weather was pretty awful, and then my Car was stolen on Sunday.

That turned into a farce! It was stolen and found burnt out about 1/2 mile from my home. By the time the Police finally gave me details on what had happened to it, and where it was, it had been stolen again! Yes... stolen, burnt out, and the burnt out wreck stolen! We finally found where it had been dumped yesterday at about 5:30pm. So now I've finally been able to let my insurer's know where it is so that they can send out their assessors. It's not as bad as I'd thought, but there's no doubt it's going to be a write-off. The entire interior has been burnt out, the rear end appears to be the worst, with the paint burnt and blistered on the rear doors. The bonnet is open and forced right up over the windscreen and burnt to buggery. And the bastard who stole it the second time nicked the bloody wheels off it! I have a funny feeling they've also taken something from the engine bay as that doesn't quite look right.

Turns out that my Cavalier wasn't the only one stolen and burnt out that morning either... a friend at work's sister's boyfriend had the same thing happen to his Cav that morning! I don't know if they're related incidents or not, but it seems a bit suspicious to me. What's really annoyed me is that most of the detective work seems to have been done by ourselves! Now that the car has been located everyone seems willing to do their work - but it took 4 phonecalls to the police before they could tell me anything about what had happened! It's been a nightmare. I'm seriously considering not bothering with having a car in the future. It's not worth the hassle.

Hits on my Wallpapers have really gone up in the last week or so... 460 this month now! :)
