********************************************************************************************************* MOST RECENT ENTRIES -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Monday, May 17, 2004 Jason Nevins Album This is from the Jason Nevins web site might be worth a look: For all the new people...thanks for joining www.JasonNevins.com ! Jason's new album will be coming out most likely End of Summer/ Fall '04. Tentatively, there will be tracks with Duran Duran, Lumidee, Joan Jett, Billy Squier, Tears for Fears, KISS and more ! The first single from the album on Sanctuary Records, U.K. will be "Im The Main Man" featuring Marc Bolan from 70's icon band T-Rex. Anastacia "Left Ouside Alone", Ghostface & Missy "Push", Darren Hayes "Popular", Thalia "Dont Look Back", N.E.R.D. "She Wants To Move" and the new Anastacia single from her multi-platinum album: "Sick and Tired". We are now getting approval to allow people that sign up to download some of Jasons newest mixes before they hit the street....check back soon for details ! posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bad News! According to the official DD site all the information from the past couple of weeks about an album deal is just rumour. "In response to the piece in this week's issue of Billboard, the band are indeed in talks with Epic Records about a deal - but it's not signed yet - which is why we have not gone public with anything. In fact, none of us were thrilled the piece ran - as the deal is not done - which is why Epic also declined to comment. We appreciate your patience and as soon as the ink is dry on any deal DuranDuran.com will be the first to know." On a slightly odder note, the chap who won World Idol - Kurt Nilsen (desrcibed in the UK as looking like a Hobbit) - has covered "Ordinary World" for his new album. Plus there's supposed to be some DD on a new PS2 Dance game (can't remember what game now - it was mentioned on the bulletin board). On the website front, I've decided what background to use - if I can get hold of it! It's from the Tour programme and is the floral motif on the red background. Everyone seems to build white pages, and whilst I think my Black pages are too dark I want something that's going to stand out! I also need to listen to some of the albums again, so I can write reviews. And I need to search the web for reviews of the albums & singles.... there's lots of work to do, but hopefully we're getting a PC and Broadband soon! Then I can get on with it at home! posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, May 12, 2004 Oxford Union Debate There's a couple of items on the web about the Oxfird Union Debate that Nick took part in. One's a report on the debate from The Times the other is from NME and concentrates on the fact that a Student told Nick to 'sit down and shut up'.... Not much else to report really - I'm working on the Photo Gallery, just concentrating on my gig pics at the mo. But I can't really get into things at the mo, I'm getting problems with my bloody javascript on something I'm doing at work (the same thing that gave me problems a few weeks back), and I've just got the hand-in date for my second assignment - 31st May.... 13 days to complete the program, write the guides and hand-in!!!! I'm off to get on with it!! posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, May 11, 2004 Album rumours abound! There are all sorts of snippets and rumours about the new DD album, apparently Billboard are reporting that DD have signed to Epic/Sony for 1 CD and 1 DVD (which seems a bit odd as A-ha have just signed a new 3 album contract!). There's still nothing official about which label on the DD site, but the guys are reportedly back in the studio, in London (yay!), re-recording, recording some new stuff, and producing the new album. The bad news is that although we all expected the new album out sometime in May/June it's now scheduled for 'Fall' (you'd think they'd insist on using the proper word 'Autumn', seeing as they're Brits!!). I'm keeping my eyes peeled!! On other news I'm hotly anticipating the release of the first 3 CDs in a box set - and a miracle happened at the weekend (well, Friday night!). We've got this fantastic new Aiwa hi-fi (one of the ones with a USB link and MP3 capability), and I suddenly wondered if it might, possibly, play my 22 year old Rio cassette. I popped the tape in and pressed play, expecting to hear the first track and then to have the tape gradually slow down and refuse to budge through the second track. To my astonishment it played the whole darn thing! That's the first time in about 15 years that I've been able to listen to it! So I finally got to hear 'Lonely in Your Nightmare', 'Hold back the rain' and 'New Religion' once again! It was the perfect end to the perfect day as I'd finally moved from my dark box of an office with no natural light or ventilation into a nice bright airy office! I've not touched the web site since last week, but I have a list of things to do! Reviews, lyrics, add the singles, photo gallery (mainly focusing on my gig pics but also some pics from the years), links to other DD fan sites, biographies of all the guys, and of course getting back to work on the scrapbook (where it all started!). Plus the design needs an overhaul already! It was just a quick throw together and I need something better really! That should keep me busy! I'm planning in the next month or so to start collecting anything I can get my hands on - 7", 12", vinyl albums etc. I told my hubby about this last night and he's, very sensibly, decided to just say "yes dear" to everything I say about DD. I think it's finally dawned that he's second fiddle to Simon & the boys!! Talking of which, I printed one of my photos out (one of the ones where Simon's looking straight down my camera) and popped it into a photo frame on my desk this morning. It's a cute little Love-heart shaped silver frame..... what a way to brighten up my desk!! :-) posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, May 07, 2004 It's written at last! I've finally finished the review today, and posted it. All I need to do now is the photo gallery, and use some of my pics to incoroprate into a redesign of the site! It's been a strange week really, and the writing got harder as I got further from the event, but it's helped me to re-capture the feeling and the thoughts of the night. Now I have that and my photos forever as a reminder of my first DD gig! As an aside, I got info from Ticketmaster today with the 2 dates that Simon & Garfunkel are playing over here this summer. I have to take the details home to hubby. I did rather rashly promise that if I could I'd try and get him tickets for his birthday present - it's the least I can do after he got me the DD ones for easter! I'm sure he'd prefer Hyde Park, but travel to London for us both will be about £150 on the train! Then the tickets (standing) start at £40 each! Manchester might be a better option. posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, May 05, 2004 Review nearly written I can't believe how long it's taking me to write my review of the Sheffield gig (now just over a week ago!), but then again I am trying to write it at work, add photos, and I've lost 4 days through holiday and a long weekend! The good news is that it's very nearly ready. I've only got the last 6 or 7 songs to do! I sent an email to Katy at dd.com asking her to pass on my thanks to they guys for such a great night! I also had a few questions which cropped up from having seen them live, I got her/their reply today.... Q- What is the instrument Simon plays at the end of 'The Chauffer'? I always thought it was something like the Pan Pipes A- It is an Ocarina (I've checked into these on the net and apparently they come from India, China and South America. It appears that they came to Europe from South America, and Simon's looks to be a traditional one, not the English style) Q- What do they see and hear while on stage? A- They see and hear it all - except for poor Roger who is stuck at the back Q- (to Simon) How does it feel to have 12,000+ fans singing your lyrics with you? A- He thinks it is pretty brilliant Q- Is there any chance of getting hold of the fantastic Fumio Obata Manga animation for Careless Memories, I was torn between watching the Manga and watching you all! My favourite part was when Simon smashed EMI!! A- Not sure what we're going to do with it yet! It was cool to get an email back (Katy is always quick to reply when she can get you the answers!), so the guys should have got my pics and my thanks for the show! :-) posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, May 04, 2004 Nick to particpiate in Oxford Union Debate Great news just breaking that Nick has been invited to participate in the Oxford Union debate this year. Apparently it's going to be filmed by MTV Europe for transmission at a later date. The debate this year is: This House believes that "Reality TV is killing Real Music". Should be interesting. Of course Nick is one of the three proposers of the motion. I'm really chuffed for him, it's a real honour to be invited to speak at one of these prestigious events. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled on the schedules for the transmission date. posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Still on cloud nine I've still not come down to earth yet!! I got some prints done from some of my photos at the weekend, they're not bad! I'm still learning really. I've decided that for the next tour I want a Kodak SLR style camera with 256MB memory card, and I'm getting Front Standing tickets!! I posted some of my photos to the DD.com bulletin boards, and one of the replies really made my day.... acording to Ramona it's rare for Simon to look right down your camera - and I got it twice!!:-) I'm really, really, chuffed now!! It's a bad day at work today, so I really needed that!! It's cheered me up no end!! There's an article on the Billboard web site about DD getting close to signing with Epic, but there's nothing official yet There's also an interview on the Virgin Radio web site. posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- // *END OF NEW ENTRIES* \\ |
