********************************************************************************************************* MOST RECENT ENTRIES -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Monday, July 25, 2005 Tragic news over the weekend Turns out that the guy shot by Police in London on Friday was innocent. Although it appears that his visa had run out, which probably explains why he was running from the police. That said, I whole-heartedly understand the decision of those officers - at the end of the day they had to make a snap decision. They must have genuinely felt that he was a threat or they wouldn't have shot him. Unfortunately the only way to disable a suicide bomber is going to be a shot to the head - and I completely understand why the current 'Shoot to protect' policy is in place. I feel for the poor guy's family, but equally I feel for the officers involved. They must be wondering what more they could have done. But how much worse would things be if he had been a suicide bomber? What would the public, and press, have said then? posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- // *END OF NEW ENTRIES* \\ |
