********************************************************************************************************* MOST RECENT ENTRIES -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Thursday, July 12, 2007 Set list & my personal top 10 OMD tracks Well, it's taken a while, but I've finally got the set list from the current OMD tour! Architecture And Morality Sealand The New Stone Age Georgia She's Leaving Souvenir Joan Of Arc Maid Of Orleans The Beginning And The End Messages Tesla Girls (Forever) Live And Die If You Leave Pandora's Box Talking Loud And Clear So In Love Locomotion Sailing On The Seven Seas Enola Gay Walking On The Milky Way Electricity The Romance Of The Telescope I didn't do too badly, with the exception of the A&M tracks! Ordered the A&M + DVD set from HMV on the 29th... after checkout I spotted that the first 2 albums and the 4th one are in the sale at the moment, at under a fiver each. So I ordered those too. They shipped on Tuesday of last week - but it was really wierd. They picked them in a wierd order and each item was charged separately, so when they arrived they were all individually packaged! What a waste of cardboard! How ironic too that the first should arrive on Saturday, Live Earth day! Even more strange was that the last item charged was the first to arrive! Anyway, they're all here now, and I've listened to them all. Out of the four, A&M is my favourite. Not just because of the live set, but because musically it does more for me than the others. There's an experimentalism there, but there's also a more cohesive sound. I simply adore the title track. It's instrumental, and it has a common grammar with much of the rest of the album. There are melodic hints of Maid of Orleans and Joan of Arc, and it's beautifully put together. No wonder I was blown away by it live! Came up with my personal OMD top 10 today - I did it a couple of weeks back, but some lovely person decided to hack the official website forum, and my account was lost. It took me a while, because I've been listening to so many albums recently, but I stand by this list (for the moment!) Number 1 is always number 1 for me... 2-4 stay pretty much the same, but sometimes they switch positions with each other, 5-10 are completely changeable! 1 - Souvenir 2 - Secret 3 - Enola Gay 4 - Southern 5 - Architecture & Morality 6 - Genetic Engineering 7 - Bunker Soldiers 8 - Maid of Orleans 9 - La Femme Accident 10 - Pandora's Box I make no apologies for having Southern in my top 4, even though it appears that I'm in a minority for liking that particular track! What made me chuckle was the post after mine: "That is such a bizarre Top ten Air. Nice one." Seems I'm one for being a bit different - what with playing Air synths (no prizes for guessing my username on the forums!) and my somewhat eclectic top 10! I've noticed that there is generally a commonality of periods for most people's top 10s. I've yet to work out what the common denominator is in mine! But I happen to adore all those tracks. I've decided that - with the exception of Southern as I don't have that on cd - I'm going to put that listing on my mp3 player to see how odd it sounds together, or if I can spot the common theme! Had a bit of luck yesterday too. I've been trying to replace Paul's VHS of 'The Best of...' for months now, I bid on a couple towards the end of last week, but got outbid both times. I finally got one yesterday - 99p + £2.25 p&p! Bargain! Can't wait for that to arrive... we used to have quite a laugh watching the videos... partly because you could always guess the year by Paul H's hairstyle! ![]() Had a look around yesterday for something about the band that Paul H formed with Claudia Brucken from Propaganda, onetwo. Found the website of their record label there[there]. Wasn't too sure from the samples on there, but ended up on their MySpace and for the first time ever I could almost see the point of it! There were a good selection of clips which made me want to buy the album, and a nice photo gallery thing, which had links under it to the photographers - one of them, Daniela Vorndran has some fantastic live shots of them on her website. She's also got some lovely OMD shots there too! ![]() posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- // *END OF NEW ENTRIES* \\ |
