********************************************************************************************************* MOST RECENT ENTRIES -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Monday, August 13, 2007 Perseids? What Perseids? Popped out into the back garden last night to see if I could spot anything of the expected meteor shower - which all the news broadcasts were saying would be visible from 10pm onwards... I stood there for about 5-10 minutes in my dressing gown, and didn't spot a thing! As I had to be up at 6 this morning I decided not to wait out there any longer and headed off to bed. I guessed I was probably looking in the wrong direction, and having had a look on the BBC news website it seems I probably was! I guess, looking at this that the best spot to see them will be from the back bedroom! I might try again tonight, although it seems the best show around 2am - far too late for me! I wasn't entirely disappointed by it, living in the middle of town there's so much light pollution that sometimes it's hard to see the stars. But, once your eyes become accustomed to the lighting conditions you can pick out quite a lot on a clear night like last night. And why am I getting up at 6am? I hear you ask... the car failed it's MOT last week! And the garage we took it to say it needs about £800 of work on it! So, until we get a 2nd opinion, or get it fixed, I'm having to use the bus to get to work. I have to be at the bus station for 7:20am and get back there at about 6:20pm. It makes for a long day, but at least I can get to work! posted by Unknown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- // *END OF NEW ENTRIES* \\ |
